It is hard to believe that another year has passed. I probably say this every year, but 2015 has been one of the best years of my life; lots of exciting things have happened and I have made some big steps to pursuing my dreams. There are so many wonderful people in my life and I really couldn’t ask for anything more. I spent the past few days relaxing with family and reflecting on what a wonderful 365 days it has been.
2015 is the first full year of life for APOE and I have been working harder than ever to make it as great as possible. This blog, which started as a little idea and then grew to be a large part of my life is one of the things I am most proud of. But, more important than the website itself are the people who read it, so if you are here for the first time or visit here often, I want to say thank you. Whether we know each other personally, you are one of the many “virtual comment friends” or you prefer to be an incognito reader, your presence in this community is what keeps APOE alive, so you are all very important to me. If I could sit down and have coffee with all of you I would.
I’ve said it before, but I’m saying it again. If you ever have questions, comment or just want to say hi, please email me, message me, FB me, tweet me or whatever. I would love to hear from you!
As you go through this post, I urge you to think about some of the things you are most proud of this year and then write it down or let me know in the comments if you want to share. Even if this year has been hard, if you can find something great and reflect upon it, if only for a second, I promise it will make your day a little bit brighter. Let’s end 2015 with something positive and get ready for another great year ahead.
Happy New Year to all of you! Thank you for being a part of this adventure.
Here are some of my highlights from 2015. In case you missed them, you can see the posts through the links below.
In early 2015 I attended my first fashion week as a blogger. It was so exciting to see so much beautiful fashion that I almost had an anxiety attack a few times. There is nothing that makes a blogger more inspired than seeing a good show. If you want to see more, you can read the post here.
In March of 2015, APOE turned one. In some ways this blog feels like it has been a part of my life forever and in others it still feels brand new. I am constantly learning and improving, so I can’t wait to see what birthday number 2 brings. If you want to see my post about turning one, you can read it here.
I was invited to speak about business, blogging and fashion at Business in Heels. I have a big fear of public speaking, so this was one of the hardest things I did this year. My mind was racing the entire time, so I honestly can’t remember what exactly I said, but all the ladies were so supportive that all I felt was love. If you’re in Bangkok or any other BIH city, I would definitely recommend this community of women. See the post here.
My parents, aunt and uncle came to visit me in Thailand. We visited Angkor Wat together and it was a truly magical experience. Although I had been there in the past, this trip was different because I was finally old enough to appreciate the history I was experiencing over the $1 draft beers. You can see more photos from the post here.
I had the opportunity to attend the DVF show and to meet Diane Von Furstenberg. As one of the most influential women in fashion, this was a really big deal to me. You can read more from the post here.
I had the chance to write my very first magazine editorial that was actually put into print in a magazine. As a blogger who is used to my articles staying on the internet, seeing my work on paper was a very proud moment. Read my articles here.
I completed the course related portion of my degree and had the opportunity to intern at Centara Hotels & Resorts. For the first time I was able to put all my new knowledge and social media experience into practice in a very large corporate environment. I also met a fabulous team of people that I will be keeping in touch with for a long time to come. Oh, and we got to go on a pretty great tropical holiday – see the post here.
As I grow up, my priorities and values become more clear. One step I took this year was to focus on Fair Fashion. I teamed up with IOM X and implement a fair fashion tab on my blog to help spread the word about buying ethically and being conscious of how we consume. Learn more about my fair Fair Fashion initiatives here.
I finally graduate with a Bba in Marketing this year! To top it off, my mum came to celebrate. I am eternally grateful for everything my parents have done for me and was happy my mum was able to be there for this proud moment. See the post here.
My last outfit in Bangkok. I still haven’t quite processed the fact that I moved away from the city I have called home for almost 6 years, so I will touch back on this topic again soon. In the meantime, see my last Bangkok outfit post here.
Along with graduation, this is the other big thing that happened to me this year. I launched my own brand, ÉLISE. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I am proud of what I have accomplished so far. See the post here. See our very first retailer here.
After months of trying to create the perfect pajama, finally finishing the product and being able to wear it was a really big moment. Over Christmas I also received many pictures of others wearing their ÉLISE pajamas too – this was one of my proudest moments of 2015 (that and graduating!). See post here.
Being back home feels wonderful. There is so much family and endless nature and what more could you want in life? See post here.
Celebrating 2015. There are a few days left until New Years Eve and I am going to continue reflecting on how magical this year has been. If you haven’t already seen it, you can check my NYE Outfit Inspiration post here.
