If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you probably know that I used to live in Thailand. If you’re just new to APOE, you’ve probably wondered why I have so much content from Southeast Asia; this is because I left Canada when I was eighteen, fell in love with Bangkok and ended up spending six years there. I know it’s an unconventional way to spend one’s youth, but I’m a firm believer that travelling is one of the best things there is. The world has lots to teach us!

Business in Heels

Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of A Piece of Elise! It’s hard to believe how fast this year has flown by. It feels like just last month that I made my wordpress.com account and showed up at a Business In Heels networking event and tried calling myself a blogger. I didn’t know it at the time, but Business In Heels was probably the best thing I could have done at that point. By the end of the party I had met so many lovely ladies, many who have blogs themselves, who would end up teaching me almost all that I know about the internet. They welcomed me with arms wide open and didn’t laugh (too hard) at the fact that I didn’t even know what a Twitter “handle” meant.

Today is my first Monday waking up as my own boss. This past Friday marked my last day at Centara Hotels & Resorts. Time flew by and I did not realize how sad I would be to see it come to an end. Not only did I learn so much about what it means to work within a large company, but I also made all sorts of amazing new friends. Sitting in a room with a group of people, 10 hours a day 5 days a week, brought me closer to my coworkers than I ever imagined. So much Centara friends love is going on! Having said that, it will be nice to distance myself from the endless supply of Jelly Bellys and other snacks that are of large supply in the marketing department.
