Lately I have been on a bit of a fitness kick, largely inspired by my good friend and fitness teacher, Courtney Bentley (I wrote about her once before here). Therefore, I figured I should share a little bit of fitness fashion! Workout gear in Bangkok is very minimal because of the heat, but sometimes I just really want to layer which is why I threw in the jacket. However, this Sey Brand sports bra is the real staple in my fitness wardrobe these days because it looks cute and fits well.
Working out in the tropics is another thing all together, so I mostly stick to classes in Aircon. However, sometimes I still chose to run outside. I never knew this could happen until I moved here, but if you do enough cardio in the heat you will get a layer of white salt all over your body from sweating so much. Gross, right?!
Anyways, that’s not the point. It had been about 1.5 years since I had last truly strenuously worked out. Up until a few months ago I would run a few minutes on the treadmill, do some squats and then peace out from the gym. However, Courtney has been teaching me that the more you give, the more you get out of your workout both physically and mentally. Because of this, in the recent months I have seen more changes physically than I have in a long time, but more important than that is the great space I discovered mentally.
So, I just want to give a great big shoutout to Courtney because I am currently feeling better than I have in a very long time. For me, the happiness I can find from choosing to take care of myself is far more satisfying and rewarding than becoming more physically fit, although that’s great too.
Does working out make you happy too? If you are looking for some fun and support you can join any of Courtney’s classes or follow along on her youtube videos if you’re somewhere far away.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
PS Courtney also took these photos – talk about multitalented!
