Sequined Dresses, of course. Flared Denim – it’s back!
Silk & Gold – hello, holidays. The Tuxedo Jacket.
There is officially one week until Christmas which means there are 2 weeks until New Years. Hello, holidays! New Years is often quite anti-climactic for me, the most memorable celebrations I’ve had have been at home with family. Oh, and one formal kegger (yes, formal kegger) I went to a few years back… and maybe a 60th floor helicopter pad party I went to Bangkok.
Anyways, I still don’t know what I’m doing this New Years, but I might try to convince my family to do something extravagant; at least as extravagant as one can get in Victoria. I’ve done a little research (mostly thanks to Tourism Victoria) and rounded up some of the best things happening in the city to celebrate 2015.
New Years Ever Party at the Manor – Oak Bay Beach Hotel
Empress Room New Years Eve – The Fairmont Empress
The Gala Buffet – Westin Bear Mountain
NYE Party – Canoe Brewpub
Live Music – Bard and Banker
And if you’re up for something extra special then head up to Whistler.
If also put together a few New Years inspired outfits from Bernstein & Gold located in downtown Victoria on Yates Street. Although I’ve included the usual dresses, sequins and gold, I’ve also included some less typical NYE pieces such as jeans and silk trousers. Follow along as I take you through each outfit, what inspired it and where you should wear it. Many of these pieces will also be on sale at Bernstein & Gold‘s boxing day sale (further details coming soon), so you can pick them up just in time for New Years.
This may be one of the best jackets I’ve ever worn – I am obsessed to say the least. The suit is DVF and is named The Genesis Trouser & Smoking Jacket. The pair is basically perfect for any New Years affair, whether together or worn as separates. The sheen of the lapel and button detail on the sleeves give it that extra something special. I am currently picturing myself seated by the fireplace at The Bengal Lounge, sipping a martini and feeling like Hefner. Ha.
The jacket and trousers are DVF and the silk shirt is Equipment. All are available at Bernstein & Gold.

I fell in love with these pants the moment I saw them; they’re made of a thick silk to the point that it feels like suede. Paired with the statement jacket, the chevron of the silk top adds the perfect contrast. Mix in some elegant earrings and you’re ready for just about any cocktail party all year long.
The blazer is Smyth, camisole and pants are from Equipment and the earrings with black diamonds are from Elizabeth Cole. All are available at Bernstein & Gold.

There is something so romantic about a gown on New Years Eve. Plus, this one is refined enough to pass as maxi dress, so it’s easy to wear to almost any party. It’s my dream dress for any of Victoria’s gala events with a blue to perfectly complement a midnight walk in the harbour.
I got a lot of comments when wearing this at noon on a Wednesday – I felt a bit like Carrie Bradshaw. If only that white car wasn’t parked behind me in every photo…
This sequinned maxi dress is from Hoss Intropia and rings are from Kala Collection. Both are available at Bernstein & Gold.

I remember buying flared jeans as an LG (lol) in the early 2000’s and never though I would be wearing them again, but here I am; the flare is actually super flattering. I put a picture of this SAM coat on Instagram last night and my phone almost blew up – everyone loved it. This outfit is perfect if you’re headed out for a night of dancing or attending a new years day brunch.
The jeans are Seven For All Mankind, jacket is SAM and silk blouse is Hoss Intropia. All are available at Bernstein & Gold.
