Getting to meet the face behind a label is one of the many aspects of fashion blogging that I really enjoy. Fashion labels invest a lot of time and resources into creating brand images that are both distinct and unique, so that we identify with them in a certain way. Although I do fall victim to the effects of marketing, I have found that actually building a relationship with the people making my clothes creates a much more effective and everlasting bond.
I know that a designer can’t meet every single person who buys their clothes, but I’m simply saying this to express the effect that meeting Irin and Ron, the faces behind Sey Brand, has had on me.
It would be a lie to say that each designer I have met was a positive experience. Ultimately, these encounters can be a make or break moment. In the case of Say Brand, it was definitely a win. I met Irin and Ron at a neighbourhood cafe, where we had lunch and chatted about fashion, marketing, social media and basically everything else that makes up this business we both work in.
Not only were they both kind, intelligent and open minded individuals, but they have created a brand that encompasses their love for the world and those around them. It is not often that I open an online shop and feel inspired to think positive, love myself and work to make each day the best it can be.
The Sey product line consists mostly of tie-dye swimwear and activewear. In this segment of the market where stick thin models in bikinis usually leave you feeling discouraged, it’s refreshing to find a swimwear line that focuses on loving who you are both inside and out. This is why I love Sey!
I was lucky enough to get to ask Irin and Ron a few questions and here’s what they came back with:
How would you describe the woman wearing Sey?
Happy, healthy and free spirited.
We think it’s the symbol of free spirit. The fabric naturally chooses what they want to look like because of the tie dye process. It’s like they are alive! Thailand is very familiar with the process, very popular way back in North Eastern and North part of Thailand. It is also one of a kind pattern, if you bought something you can be sure that it’s just for you and no one else. Also it goes well with the sea!
Where do you seek inspiration for Sey?
Mostly our inspiration comes from our travel. When we travel to new places our mindset and perspective expand also when you are free of worries your soul can work a lot better and ideas just come naturally. We also look at the way women live their lives from past and present to come up with a concept that answer both style and function.
Where do you see the brand going in the future?
We are always learning and improving everyday to make our customers happy. It is our mission and value to deliver top quality products, great customer service and empowered them to own their lives. We would love to make a positive different in people lives one way or another. Where will all this take us? We can’t say for sure but would love to be one of the first brand people think of when they think of swimwear and activewear.
