I had so much fun during TIFF! It was my very first time in the city during the film festival and it was even more exciting than I imagined. Not only did I see some amazing films, but the parties were unforgettable and I loved getting glammed up each day. Although cinema is at the core of the festival, with so many people (and endless celebs) in and around the city, Toronto becomes a media hub for brands to get their products out there and in the hands of individuals.

In addition to the brand pop-ups, installations, dinners and parties, there were also these cool things called “Gifting Lounges” where agencies would compile the coolest products from their clients and allow you to experience them hands on or if you’re lucky, even take them home. It felt like Christmas!

I want to give a big shoutout to Rock-It Promotions for their epic Tastemakers #SuiteontheSIXth where I tried Caramel M&M’s (!!!!) for the very first time and watched my friend Chloe Sugar randomly get a tattoo live on-site from Ink & Water! I had a great time at the EGPR #EssentialsLounge8 which made sure we were all TIFF ready. I got a Chemical Peel and Facial from Skinceuticals, as well as a manicure from Tweezerman. There was the Shoppers Drug Mart #SDMBeauTIFFul Lounge who gave me St. Tropez tan, an amazing Stila makeup look complete with DUO lashes and an epic blowout using Phyto products. Finally, I attended the Glo Communications #BaskItStyle lounge at beautiful The Thompson Hotel. Basically, I’ve never looked better and probably won’t look so good again until TIFF next year.

For the past week I have been slowly going through all the amazing products that I had the chance to take home and compiled a list of my favourites for you. It’s still a bit long, but keep reading because I love all these products. Here we go!

TIFF Gifting Beauty Favourites

The Dior Radiance Booster Pen gives the YSL Touche Eclat a run for its money which I never saw coming. I love the one linked below because the pink tint works great to combat dark circles (which we all have during TIFF). It works great as a highlighter too. The Diorshow Pump N Volume Mascara does exactly what it advertises; it gives you all of the volume. Finally, we all know that Dior Addict Lipsticks are everything and the 685 colour is the perfect bright pink for blondes.

If the Michael Kors new Sexy Ruby perfume wasn’t already cute enough, they went and engraved my name on it! It’s currently sitting on the display right when you come in the apartment door.

I’ve always been into cool tones (my hair, Instagram feed, clothes and even makeup), but lately I’ve started warming up my Instagram photos and even wearing browns. When I discovered these shades of pink from STILA at the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique event, I knew that my makeup would be changing too. In the past I’ve used pearl highlighters, but this Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in “Kitten” is the perfect glowing pink. Then I discovered their Magnificant Metals Liquid Eyeshadow (the easiest thing ever to apply) and the next thing I knew I was wearing pink on my eyes too. The Shoppers Drug Mart makeup artist also created the perfect pink lip colour for me by combining two of their Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (Patina and Angelo) to make a dream colour that lasts all day. I’m obsessed!

I also loved the PHYTO Paris products that the Shoppers Drug Mart team used in my hair, so I was excited to take home their Plumping Serum. It’s made with Hyaluronic Acid, which if you’ve been following me for awhile, you will know is one of my favourite things to put on my skin. I’m excited to see what it does for my hair too.

Shoppers Drug Mart also gifted the new Gucci Bloom perfume and I freaked out because I’m obsessed with the campaign! Created by Toronto’s own Petra Collins, it’s one of my favourite campaigns as of late.

I was lucky that L’Oreal Paris hooked us up with tickets to the premier for The Tragically Hip documentary, Long Time Running, which tells the story of their final tour. It was a beautiful film that I highly recommend if you want to experience some Canadian greatness. I took home a few of my favourite L’Oreal Colour Riche Matte Lipsticks because we all know I love a matte lip. I’m linking them for you below. The Matte-Caron colour on the far right might be my favourite nude ever!

I had the chance to try Annabelle Cosmetics at the NKPR X IT House and really loved their products. For starters, they just launched the Skinny Mascara seen below. With a tiny little brush, it’s the easiest for getting in the corners and right to the base of the lashes. I also loved their Cream Highlight Sticks but I’m still not sure if I like ‘Lustrous Gold’ or ‘Light Champagne’ better. I’ve also been wearing their Waterline Luminous Kohl Eyeliner in ‘Champagne’ on my lower waterline since I got it. Hello big eyes!

I got my first St. Tropez tan from Shoppers Drug Mart and I’m totally converted! I learned that regardless of whether you apply it evenly, the product is absorbed by the skin at the same rate, so as long as you’ve covered everywhere, you’ll get an even tan. It’s a piece of cake! Bye bye to those streaky fake tan problems.

With ash blonde hair, I’m always on the lookout for products that go easy on coloured locks because shampoos can quickly wash away toners making my blonde brassy again. I was excited to learn about Pureology because it’s formulated to do exactly that. Designed without silicons, parabens and strong perfumes, it’s lightweight and gentle, leaving my hair freshly clean with its colour intact. I’ve been using it relentlessly since I got it!

It seems that TIFF gifting this year was all about the monogram. I also walked away with my name engraved on my all-time favourite Tweezerman tweezers. I have yet to find a better plucker than this!

With regards to skincare, I came across a few old favourites (AKA everything Skinceuticals), as well as two new all-natural brands, Barefoot Venus and JB Skin Guru. The Skinceuticals Retexturing Activator is the only chemical exfoliant that does an amazing job without irritating my skin. I’m also trying their C E Ferulic Serum for the first time which is a protective antioxidant applied in the morning. I’m loving it so far even though it smells like bacon! Don’t be put off by the weird scent though, I like that they aren’t adding any perfumes to cover the scent of the active ingredients. Plus, it goes away within a few minutes as it’s absorbed into the skin.

I have been loving Argan Oil for quite some time now, so I was excited to discover the Barefoot Venus Argan Oil which is 100% pure and made in Canada. It is wonderful for hydrating the face, hair and cuticles. If only I could bathe in it!

An unexpected skincare surprise awaited me in the Peoni L’Extrait from JB Skin Guru. Who could have imagined that a Montreal brand, using extracts from one of my favourite flowers, and one which I have never before seen used in skincare, could be so transformative. I can’t explain it, but I’m converted for life. After warming a drop in my palm, I apply it to my face, and a wave of soothing relaxation engulfs it in warmth. This product does not only rejuvenate my skin, but I feel completely reborn. I have literally never felt anything make my skin happier, and I’m comfortable saying that it is the best oil I’ve ever used! Obsessed!!!!

I love yummy soaps and Perth Soap Co. smells amazing! Made right here in Ontario, they are beautifully wrapped and perfect for gifting if you can convince yourself not to keep it. The soap is wonderfully hydrating and sends you on a little aromatherapy journey too.

Although it’s not a beauty product, I had to include this DAVIDsTEA tumbler because it might be the coolest thing to happen to tea in awhile. It’s a bit complicated to explain, but they have a video on their website which shows how to use it. Basically, it’s a patent pending Tea Press that allows you to make looseleaf tea with no mess, as well as perfectly steeped and cooled iced tea all in one mug on the go. It’s magical!

There you go my friends! Almost 1500 words of TIFF gifting greatness. Let me know if you give any of these products a try. I would love to hear your thoughts! As always, thanks for stopping by.

xo,

Elise
