I originally fell in love with Toronto’s Heather Campbell Textiles when I discovered her digitally printed silk scarves at INLAND Canadian Designer Pop-Up. Using her paintings and drawings, she creates beautiful prints that complement silk perfectly. In addition to her silks, Heather also makes gorgeous Mongolian fur stoles and shawls in a pretty array of colours. Additionally, she just launched a collection of wool capes and vests making her brand the winter accessory and outerwear destination of dreams. To top it off, she’s based right here in Toronto.
For starters, her Syrian Tile Series of printed scarves is one of my favourites. Inspired by the exhibit at the Aga Khan Museum, I love the geometric aspect of the print and how she hid a fighter plane in the design to represent the stark reality of Syria today.
Up next, the Mongolian Furs. I am obsessed. Pair it with a dress, jacket or wool coat and transform even the simplest outfit into something chic. Her selection of colours is totally on point, but the white, black, grey and taupe are some of my top picks. They go with everything.
Finally, her Tailored Wool Cape. I fell in love as soon as I saw it. I have thing for capes because they’re so timeless and elegant. The cape in the colour “Otter” pairs with grey, white, black and brown making it wonderfully versatile. I’ve also been wearing it with a down jacket underneath on those cold winter days. A true wardrobe staple!
