It’s time for holiday parties! Although I’m not as into “partying” as I used to be, there’s still something about the holidays that gets me so excited to celebrate. I love the gatherings with loved ones (and champagne) surrounding the holidays season. The opportunity to dress up is rare in this flannel obsessed town, but luckily the festivities in December seem to consist of a slightly more fancy array of social gatherings to choose from. Plus, Ian has been showing me how fun being obnoxiously overdressed is, so at this point I think I will just rock stilettos until 2017.

When it comes to dressing for parties, I love to wear something I haven’t worn before. I want my outfit to feel extra special! I know this isn’t the most environmentally or financially sustainable mindset, but luckily I found a bit of a solution. I recently discovered Verve Fashion on Government street near Discovery and started to have a minor freak out after walking in the store. It is literally the best designer consignment fashion I have ever seen AND it’s right here in Victoria! The owner, Margot, is unbelievable fabulous and sources pieces from everywhere. She’s always putting new pieces on Instagram here. Her store is the dress up closet of my dreams. I mean, this Elizabeth & James smoking jacket is everything and the black Oscar De La Renta slingbacks are totally next level. To top it off, you’re saving money and not adding new garments to our already overflowing planet. Yay!

Tip: Try wearing a tailored pantsuit to make a statement, or layer shirts under gowns to update a traditional party look. Happy Holidays!
